Album Notes

The Final Scene, Van Gogh's debut album, was independently released on April 27, 1992. Side one is a collection of moody, thoughtful reflections on love, loss, hope, doubt and the paradoxes of life in a broken world. Side two is more upbeat and psychedelic, but continues the explorations into the human psyche begun on side one. It culminates in the brilliantly conceived and flawlessly executed "Big Blue Sky", which takes the listener on a musical bicycle ride through the Heisner brothers' old neighborhood, exploring the inevitability of growing up and leaving part of yourself behind.

The cover of the album is a picture of "The Martin Theatre" in the brothers' hometown of Panama City, FL. It was photographed by Ricky and Robby's dad, James Heisner. The theatre is mentioned in the song "Big Blue Sky".

A video was shot for the song "Some Distant Land".

After the debut release came an increasing number of requests to hear the songs performed live. In December of '92, Van Gogh performed live as a band for the first time. Over the next several years, the band's performance schedule only continued to get busier, as word of mouth and media reports quickly spread the news of their high quality CDs and live shows.
